I just wanted to give a shout out to Bobby's car, Toby, a 1995 Geo Prizm that has finally met his end.
Toby kinda looks like this:
Except with the hood held down by a piece of wire, no working signals, the front end coming off, the drivers side door with no handle, the passengers side door can't open all the way, the sunroof leaks, no radio, cracked windshield, no power stearing, no breaks and dented on all four quarter panels.
We will get pictures of him for you before we send him off. It is a sight to behold.
SO, now it is car shopping time. The limit is $200.00 a month. That is about a $10,200.00 car, depending on what they decide with Bobby's credit score and blah blah.
We went and looked at this beauty yesterday:
2008 Toyota Corolla. They claim they can make the $200.00 payment work. I claim they are full of it. HOWEVER, perhaps for a 2005, 2006 or 2007 Corolla, yes. And pretty much the body style is the same and looks great!!
So that is the plan...get some places to go and look and see what we can see.
And we gotta figure out what to do with Toby...one junk yard said they would tow it and give Bobby $130...BUT if we tow a car in to a dealership and they say they will give us $500.00 for it, they are just going to jack the price of the car we are looking at up $500.00. So is it worth the $50.00 tow there?
And I keep saying WE because Bobby has designated me as his associate in this whole car buying thing. I bought my car and my motorcycle and I know they are some fast talking fuckers!
BUT WE GONNA GET DIS!
Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I say try trade it in. Maybe get the amount of the car being sold BEFORE you tell them you have a trade in...even if they only give you 800 bucks for it. They are asses, but they will work with him.
Larkin - well they always ask, but I think we can dicker them down to the payment necessary...after all, car salesmen have to eat too!
No they don't! They suck blood. Der.
Go to citifinancial.com and apply for an auto loan there. They will send you a check that you can take to any dealer. That is what we did when we bought our Jeep. It is pretty easy and that way you can pick your terms.
Bobby would totally be pimpin in a 'Rolla!
Mitzy - THANKS! It has been noted and will be passed on!!
I don't know what Bobby's tax situation is, but if he itemizes deductions, tell him to donate the car to purple heart or the salvation army. You get the blue book value as a write off! Only if he itemizes, though. We've done it three times in the past, and it's a bonus come tax time!
MAW - I would almost feel embarrassed donating THAT thing! :) He does not itemize though...
MAW took my suggestion. lol I have no idea what they do with them. I'd get a set price and then talk trade.
Also remember that there are several jeep, dodge, and chrysler dealerships that are closing because of the bankruptcy. They have been discounting their cars sometimes by as much as $10,000. I know of one in savannah - •SAVANNAH DODGE INC 7011 ABERCORN EXTENSION 44569 DT
SAVANNAH, GA 31406
I don't know if they have anything left, they were supposed to liquidate their inventory pretty quickly, but its worth a shot.
Let's have some splainin' on the name. I once had a new-to-me 9 yr old Toyota Celica. I called it Oscar cuz that bitch was a GROUCH.
You NEVAH deal old/new in the same transaction. NEv-aH! Make them treat it as two separate deals.
Dude. Corollas are awesome.
My mom got one when I was a freshman in high school and she's STILL DRIVING IT.
srsly.
Lilli - right on!
Justin - it is pretty much about the maintenance on them though...tires cost a shit ton for a Jeep...really any tire larger than a 15in...so basically he is going for compact car/compact price!
Sassy - I don't know why his name was Toby...Krystal calls her Jeep Jaje (pronounced Jah-gee). Those two just like naming things!! Turns out Toby is going to go to the junk yard and Bobby will get $130 out of the deal. Just wasn't worth towing Toby around to the dealerships! :) LOL!
CPM - if the price gets right, the Bobz will be getting one!
