FINALLY! We Have Joined The 21st Century!

I received grand news today:

That's right. In this State of ours we have not been able to purchase alcohol at STORES on Sunday. Who made up this law? Why has it been around so long? WTF? Yes, all of these things are things I have asked all along.

When I lived in the middle of Georgia, if we wanted to drink on Sundays, we had to go to a restaurant. Now that I live in Savannah, which is on the border of South Carolina, if I want to purchase beer from a store (i.e. my case of Miller Lite) on Sunday, I have to drive 30 minutes to get it. And don't think I haven't done that before.

Typically we remember to purchase enough on Saturday to get us through our Sunday, but on occasion we forget OR drink it all on Saturday. Makes for a very sad Sunday.

BUT NOW!!! Sunday alcohol sales in stores! Larkin and I have already decided to have a "We Can Buy Beer on Sunday Like Everyone Else" party! Any excuse, right?

Thank you for sharing in this joyous occasion with me! I will be sure to let you know when it is finally passed into law.

This alone is enough to make me glad I don't live there.

Lilli - you know, it isn't until you visit another land i.e. anything other than Georgia that you realize how shitty that law is! I went and bought beer at 4:00am in Seattle, Washington once...JUST BECAUSE I COULD. Obviously, if it was 4:00am I had already had enough to drink, so I didn't actually NEED anymore...but damn if I wasn't going to buy some! However, now that they are changing it, you can move here! :) LOL!

Here on our little island not only you can't buy alcohol on a Sunday (other than at restaurants and bars) but also all grocery stores are closed, it was very hard for me to get used to that at the beginning, now I'm over it, but still have faith that someday it would change.

Umm, listen missy. For someone who is allowed to drink open cans of beer out in the streets, I think thou shall NOT complain. Purchase beforehand, however, congratulations on this new law passed! LOL!!!!
Freak!!!

P.S. I can't wait to get there!
Miss you!!!!

I bet they still won't let you buy a bottle of wine from Walmart before 9:00 a.m. though.

Sunshine - WOW! Even the grocery stores!?! That is mostly the day we go grocery shopping, so that would be really weird!!

Deb - you are right...we do have that most fabulous law of open container whilst walking. TOTALLY looking forward to you checking out that walking/drinking law too! You guys come visit!!

Deb - crazy speak! They should let you buy it at 8:30am. Don't they know work starts at 9:00am? People need their wine, dammit! I will contact the proper parties to discuss this horrible atrocity!
